Rabbi Dov Cowan

Rabbi Dov Cowan was born and raised in Elstree and was part of the inaugural year of Immanuel College Secondary School. A keen linguist and musician, he exchanged from Birmingham University to McGill University in Montreal where he graduated with a BA in History and Jewish Studies. After a year of working as a Communal Advocate at the Board of Deputies of British Jews, he decided to develop his interest in Torah study by studying at Darche Noam Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Nine years of study later, he returned to London with his Australian wife Rochelle, a budding young family and Rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Yitzchak Berkovits of the prestigious Jerusalem Kollel.

An acclaimed Jewish educator with experience in schools, synagogues and lunch and learns in the City, Rabbi Dov looks to infuse his classes with wit and energy, drawing on a fascinating list of life experiences accumulated whilst living in Israel and travelling the world. These include teaching English and trekking in the Himalayas, spending two weeks dressed as an Egyptian peasant recently climbing Italy's highest mountain. Since starting to work for the JLE in August 2012, he has built up a reputation for connecting with people from all backgrounds whilst teaching classes that develop an appreciation for the relevancy of Torah values in the modern world.
