It is with great privilege we at the JLE are honouring Rabbi and Rebbetzen Danny Kirsch for 36 years of unwavering dedication to the Jewish people. They have, and continue to impact tens of thousands of Jews from all backgrounds, ages and nationalities in London and across the UK.
Growing up in Hampstead Garden Suburb, Rabbi Kirsch’s desire to serve the community grew in the form of youth leadership in Bnei Akiva. His adolescent years took him towards the fashion industry, however, his desire to give to the community overtook. It was this drive that bought Rabbi Kirsch to Israel to prepare for future leadership within the Diaspora at the Hebrew University. During his time studying, a Shabbat meal at the home of Rabbi Refson of Neve Yerushalyim, opened the opportunity to spend time in Ohr Somayach Yeshiva.
After five years in Israel, Rabbi Kirsch was asked by the yeshiva to open an outreach centre in London and thus the JLE was born. Starting off in the Kirsch’s home, the Rabbi and Rebbetzen were soon given the opportunity to open a centre in the heart of Golders Green. Today, with over 40 staff members, offering over 80 weekly classes, hosting five successful departments and a thriving Shul community, the JLE is a hub of activity. Over 1000 people attend both social and educational programmes each week and 100s more of are hosted by our educational team for Shabbat and Yom Tov.
Rabbi and Rebbetzen Kirsch have been the core of this success – nurturing with enthusiasm for Torah, warmth and love. This event is a rare opportunity for all those touched by the Kirsch’s to pay tribute to two very special and inspirational individuals.
